The Golden Gift Fund was established in 1979 to commemorate the Society‘s 50th anniversary. The responsibility of the Golden Gift Fund Committee is to conduct the Leadership Management Seminar financed by interest from investments and contributions. The seminar is held in early July of even-numbered years on the campus of The University of Texas at Austin.
Leadership Management Seminar
June 29 to July 11, 2014
Leadership Management Seminar is an intense residential learning experience taught by world-renowned experts in the fields of leadership, management and communication. All who have been a Society member for at least three years may apply.
With direction from the Golden Gift Fund Committee, this unique program is custom designed for DKG members by McCombs School of Business Texas Executive Education. Curriculum topics include result-oriented negotiating, understanding personality and management style, improving your professional image, using temperament in communication, managing across generations and creating leadership skills for women. Held each even-numbered year, the seminar spans two weeks preceding the International Convention. Thirty (30) participants can attend each time.
DKG offers this life-changing opportunity at minimal cost to each award recipient. Successful applicants pay a registration fee of U.S. $500. The Golden Gift Fund pays the remaining expenses in excess of U.S. $5500 for tuition, full-board lodging, round-trip travel and teaching materials.
Application forms for the 2014 seminar are available online beginning 1 July 2013.
Deadline for sending applications is 1 December 2013.

speech, July 28th 2012:Strenghtening Our Society
What an amazing convention we have had. Thank you, again, New York members and each one who contributed. Dr. Jensi Souders iterated the progress we have made. We must build on it as we continue to address our challenges. Cynthia Barton Rabe, an innovation strategist and author of The Innovation Killer, says we cannot let what we know limit what we can imagine. She warns organizations against struggling with a paradox of expertise, in which deep knowledge of what exists in an organization makes it harder to consider what - if strategies.
She writes, “Sometimes best practice, and other corner stones of an organization’s success may become millstones that threaten to sink it.” As DKG members, we cherish our ways and customs but, it may be helpful to look at our organization as if we are seeing it for the first time.
Sarah Sladek, author and founder of XYZ University, helps organizations remain relevant to future generations. In her book, The End of Membership as We Know it, she suggested steps that organizations should consider for continued growth in a changing market. I want to share a few.
First, we must continue to find our focus. We must continue to ask ourselves, why we exist. Can we define with clarity our reason for being?

The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International has seven basic purposes that govern its program of work and study. The activities of each level of the Society implement the purposes of the Society. The seven purposes include
1. To unite women educators of the world in a genuine spiritual fellowship
2. To honor women who have given or who evidence a potential for distinctive service in any field of education
3. To advance the professional interest and position of women in education
4. To initiate, endorse and support desirable legislation or other suitable endeavors in the interests of education and of women educators
5. To endow scholarships to aid outstanding women educators in pursuing graduate study and to grant fellowships to non-member women educators
6. To stimulate the personal and professional growth of members and to encourage their participation in appropriate programs of action
7. To inform the members of current economic, social, political and educational issues so that they may participate effectively in a world society
