The Conference Site


Sports College Steinbach is idyllically situated in a rural setting, surrounded by vineyards. The college can accommodate 144 people on site. Six hotels in the immediate vicinity complete the accommodation. The Sports College welcomes participants from Sunday, July 31, after 14:00 until midday the following Sunday.

The Programme

We are very happy to have found excellent speakers / keynote speakers on topics that are of interest to participants from all member countries.


The first social highlight will be Black Forest Night with a folk dance and music group, plus a demonstration of traditional crafts like straw-shoe-making. Regional food specialities will be included, as well as a sampling of local wines.


The Night on the Town includes a reception by the Mayor of Baden-Baden, themed guided tours covering historical, cultural and artistic aspects, followed by an opportunity for an inpidual stroll around the town (and shops!) and an evening meal at the Kurhaus restaurant.The venue for the Banquet on Friday will be the Bürgerhaus in Bühl.


The Farewell Luncheon on Saturday will take place in the college dining area.

Tours

Short 2-3 hour trips and half-day trips on Monday and Tuesday as well as on Wednesday morning will give you the opportunity to explore the beautiful Black Forest and the Rhine valley close to the venue, e.g. to Alpirsbach with its famous monastery and brewery. All-day tours on Monday and Tuesday will take you to the Black Forest capital, Freiburg, as well as Heidelberg and its famous castle.


One of the post-conference tours will take you to Triberg / waterfalls, the Black Forest open air museum / Gutach, and the glassblowing site and factory at Wolfach; another to the Bavarian King’s castle Neuschwanstein (2 days); the third one is a combined 3-day coach and boat tour that will take you cruising on the Rhine and Neckar and on the way back you'll pass Lake Constance.

How to get to the conference site


By car



  • approaching from the north: Leave the highway at exit Baden-Baden and turn towards Sinzheim / Bühl on the B3. After Sinzheim head left at the ARAL patrol station in Steinbach towards Neuweier = Yburgstrasse (College at the end of Steinbach, No. 115).

  • approaching from the south: Leave the highway at exit Bühl and turn towards Bühl. Turn left towards Steinbach/ Baden-Baden


By train



  • Railway station Baden-Baden. Take Bus 216 (approx. €3) across "Stadtmitte" (town center) Baden-Baden (40 min) towards Neuweier, get off at stop ‘ Yburgstr./Sportschule’. Buses run about every 30 min.

  • Or Stadtbahn S4 to Stop ‘Rebland’, then bus 261 to Steinbach, stop ‘Sportschule’ (2,20€)

  • More convenient: By taxi, approximately 15 minutes (approx. € 25per taxi)


By plane
A) Airport Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden ( Baden Airport )



  • Car rental: Side exit South via Leiberstung, Weitenung to Steinbach

  • or by taxi

  • or by shuttle bus to Baden-Baden train station (about 2.80 €), then see above. Shuttle buses run every hour from 6:40h to 22:50h


B) Airport Frankfurt



  • Rental car: Via highway A8 and A5 - see also: By car approaching from North.

  • or public transport: By train to railway station Baden-Baden, from there take Bus No. 216 - see above

  • or taxi.

Hint: One way of getting very comfortably from the airport directly to the venue is an airport shuttle e.g. expressgroup.de And if you plan ahead and find others to share it with it isn’t too expensive either! Unfortunately their website is only in German, yet the important information should still be comprehensible. If you are still not sure you might want to give them a call or use their e-mail form.
